Currently I'm paying approx £33/mo for a dedicated server in Hetzner's Falkenstein's DC with the following specifications:

05-hzn-fsn
CPU i7-6700 (8c @ 4GHz)
Memory 64GB
Storage 2x 512GB NVMe (Mirror)
Network Unlimited @ 1Gbps
IPv4 1x /32
IPv6 1x /64
Price €36.84

Hetzner's service is excellent and I don't think I've had any complaints. However, being on Hetzner raises concerns regarding their TOS. Looking back at the big woem.men situation it appears the whole 'kill your service with 24h notice for hosting lesbians kissing' was seemingly a mistake - but their TOS still prohibits "pornographic or obscene material, [...], material that could seriously endanger the morals of children or young people"... which given that I'm in the UK I don't want to have to deal with hosting NSFW content because of the OSA so maybe this isn't worth it????

(i mean alternatively i just keep the compute in hetzner and proxy all traffic through a host that doesn't have as restrictive a TOS to shield be from abuse complaints )

OVH (https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-gb/vps/) have very appealing options - but because of that it's always out of stock.

VPS-2 VPS-3
CPU ? (6c @ ?) ? (8c @ ?)
Memory 12GB 24GB
Storage 100GB NVMe 200GB NVMe
Network Unlimited @ 1Gbps Unlimited @ 1.5Gbps
IPv4 1x /32 1x /32
IPv6 1x ? 1x ?
Price £8.93/mo £17.59/mo

Their storage options are a bit lacking though. The one I was looking at only has 100-200GB storage. their top tier £64.26/mo plan only comes with 400GB.

i should really think about #11 before actually going forward with this. it also helps because installing PVE on a VPS doesnt sound like a good time

i mean i do have the stack of elitedesks that i could just put behind a VPN

but hetzner provide a level of 'wont get turned off when a tree falls or some bullshit' that my home energy supply cannot

ovh vps came in stock and i just thought long and hard about this. along with my thoughts on #11 i think its better to stick with what we have (because i know i will not fully migrate everything and be stuck paying £10/mo on top of what i'm already paying)
